“The new contract will provide opportunities for around 50,000 Saudis by increasing the Saudization level by 30 percent”
The proportion of Saudis working in restaurants and cafés will soon grow to a 30 percent level in Saudi Arabia.
To implement this plan, a new agreement is signed between the Ministry of Labor and restaurants and the Cafe Association. It will soon be implemented and many expatriates will lose their jobs.
The deal will promote the growth and development of the sector, and the government can employ many nationals under this scheme.
Currently, 36542 Saudis are employed in the restaurant sector, including 1156 women. It is only 13 percent of the total workforce in the restaurant sector.
At the same time, around 3 lakh foreigners work in the sector, including 3,500 women.
